The Mythical Man-Month :
Essays on Software Engineering by Frederick P., Jr. Brooks
The Mythical Man-Month is one of the classics in the field of software
program management. Development environments may have changed in
the 21 years since the first edition of this book, but the peculiarly
nonlinear economies of scale in collaborative work and the nature of
individuals and groups has not changed an epsilon.

Software Runaways by Robert
L. Glass
Part analysis, part blood
& gore account of famous failures (Denver baggage claim, FAA, etc.).
Most interesting conclusion - recently documentation suggests that
technological problems (reliance on new systems, integration issues,
etc.) are as much or more of an issue in overruns than is poor
management.
